"Blast! They got away again! But I shall soon destroy them with my—what is that?"
"How do you like it, daddy-o? I totally awesome-ized it for you."
―Emperor Palpatine and Darth Maul[1]

The Darth Star was a massive Imperial battle station/superweapon which was built by the Empire shortly after the Battle of Yavin to replace the original Death Star destroyed over Yavin 4. Envisioned by Emperor Palpatine, who bought the necessary materials for its construction, it was built and named by the Sith Lord Darth Maul, who named it after the Darth concept of the Sith. Both Palpatine and Maul used The Force to build the station, though Palpatine just did some work before letting Maul to finish the rest. This proved wrong for Palpatine, as Maul set aside the manual to build the new Death Star at his whim, modeling it to resemble his face, with his mouth being where the superlaser was placed. In response, Palpatine was furiously reprimanded Maul for revising the appearance of the superlaser. However, the weapon never saw use in the Galactic Civil War as it was accidentally destroyed by Darth Vader while trying to escape into hyperspace from his fangirls.[1]

Description

"Now, it's a Darth Star."
"No, no, no you Maul-head. I can't terrorize the galaxy with that. I would be the laughing-stock of the Empire."
―Darth Maul and Emperor Palpatine[1]

The Darth Star was assembled by Darth Maul and the Emperor using the Force. Although intended by Palpatine to be similar in design to the first Death Star, Maul instead remade the weapon in his own image.[1]
