DS-55-6 was the call sign of an Imperial Navy TIE pilot who served[1] during the Galactic Civil War fought between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic. In 0 BBY,[2] DS-55-6 was among the TIE pilots who fought in the Battle of Yavin,[1] where numerous TIE/LN starfighters defended the Empire's DS-1 Orbital Battle Station against attacking Alliance starfighters. The battle ended with the battle station's destruction and an Alliance victory over the Empire.[3]

Behind the scenes

DS-55-6 was created for 2002's A New Hope expansion of the Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Trading Card Game. Identified as the designation of a TIE fighter in that set,[4] the 2008 The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia would instead identify DS-55-6 as the fighter's pilot.[1] This article assumes that The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia is correct and treats DS-55-6 as the pilot and not the TIE fighter.
