The Crystal was a sacred Ewok item that once belonged to an ancient Ewok warrior. The Crystal was a white semi-transparent crystal held by a few twigs, fastened by rope. While being used, the crystal glowed green, and the eyes of the one under the effect of the crystal's power also glowed green.[1]
History
Around 3 ABY, prior to the journey to locate and rescue the parents of the shipwrecked Humans Mace and Cindel Towani from a Gorax, the crystal was given to the Ewok Deej Warrick in hopes that along the journey, the caravan would find two new Ewoks to join them on their journey by the village shaman, Logray.[1]
On the journey, the group discovers Kaink, the Ewok Priestess. Deej offered the crystal to Kaink, who accepts it, however, the crystal is not enough to convince Kaink to join the caravan, asking the group to pass a magic test. Kaink asks Mace first to take the test, giving the crystal to him. When Mace holds on to the crystal, it turns into a lizard. Mace drops the lizard to the ground and begins to walk away, not believing that Kaink will help them. As Mace leaves, Cindel picks up the lizard, turning it into a mouse, passing the test and convincing Kaink to join the group.[1]
Sometime after this test, the mouse is turned back into the crystal, and Kaink adds the crystal to the top of her staff. Later, the caravan reaches the Forbidden Fortress of the Gorax. Inside the Fortress, the caravan crosses a large spider web situated above a massive ravine to get from one side of the ravine to the other. During the crossing, Deej is attacked by a Rearing spider. Kaink saves Deej from the attack by using the crystal to briefly hypnotize the spider, paralyzing it briefly and allowing Deej to escape.[1]
