- "What could be better than sailing the spacelanes and boarding vessels! HA! It sounds like a great life! Well, you're missing out, I say!"
- ―Boyrake, to a spacer
The Canyon Corsairs, also known as the Corsair Raiders or simply as the Corsairs, were a group of pirates active on the planet Lok and in the Karthakk system during the Galactic Civil War.
Description
- "They aren't a very friendly bunch so be careful!"
- ―Boyrake, to a spacer
The Canyon Corsairs were active in the Karthakk system. They were named after the Canyon, an area of the Karthakk system that served as their home. The pirates were also present in other quadrants such as Nym's Hovel, Voria's Ember, the Censorious Tempest Nebula and the Corsairian Crescent.[4] They were based on the planet Lok where they had built a small stronghold out in the wilderness.[2]
The Corsairs were a ruthless band of hooligans promising to wreck havoc on any passing civilian or vessel.[4] The typical Canyon Corsair considered him- or herself above average vehicle pilots and was typically skilled in all sorts of vehicles such as swoops, landspeeders, and starships. Canyon Corsairs spent most of their time working on their vehicles, the parts for which they did not always acquire honestly.[5] In space, Corsair pilots flew Z-95-AF4 Headhunters, Ixiyen-class fast attack crafts, M12-L Kimogila heavy fighters and T-65 X-wing starfighters.[3]
The Canyon Corsairs were enemies of the Blood Razors and Nym's Lok Revenants.[6]
History
- "Help our shipments get through to Lok without being hijacked by those Canyon Corsairs."
- ―Shamdon Kree, to a pilot
After the Battle of Yavin, the retired Imperial Naval Captain Boyrake and the former Rebel spy Talia v'laenya discovered the location of the Canyon Corsair's Stronghold on Lok.[1][7]
In 1 ABY,[8] the Corsairs hijacked several Valarian shipments transported to Nym's organization. Shamdon Kree therefore dispatched elite pilots from Talon Karrde's Smuggler Alliance to deal with the pirates. Many Corsairs were killed, including the pirate leader known as the Canyon Corsair Behemoth.[3]

- ↑ The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
