Arena Droids, also referred to as Target Droids, Ally Droids, or Training Droids, were multipurpose droids utilized for various activities and roles during the competitive sporting show Hunters of the Outer Rim.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Arena Droids first appeared in the canon video game Star Wars: Hunters, which was developed by NaturalMotion's BossAlien and published by Zynga[1] on November 16, 2021, as a soft-launch to select countries,[2] before the global release on June 4, 2024.[3] The droid model was designed by concept artist Ross Burt.[4]

Ross Burt on ArtStation: Star Wars Hunters - Arena Droid (December 13, 2024): "We wanted a Droid that we could use within the Arena training grounds, run by the owner Balada the Hutt. Initially that Hutt connection took me down the route of a thug style Droid, incorporating elements of armour from the various Hutt enforcers and skiff guards, and playing with the idea of the one-eyed gatekeeper droid, giving it a cycloptic feel. As it developed, it moved away from feeling bulky and more towards Battle Droid style cannon fodder, a droid Balada would have in plentiful supply for our Hunters to blast away at, and took inspiration from droids like Ev-9d9."
