- "How many of us work in this industry because as a child we were captured by the magic of the original Star Wars movies?? I would say all of us in one way or the other, since George Lucas' saga gave birth of the Entertainment Industry as we know. I had the huge honor to be part of the reboot of the Saga under the direction of JJ Abrams and Production Design of Darren Gilford and Rick Carter. It was an amazing experience to be part of a huge talented team and to be able to touch ship designs that influenced a whole generation of artists."
- ―Fausto De Martini
Fausto De Martini was a senior illustrator for the 2015 film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens.[3] De Martini's primary responsibility was updating the design of the TIE fighter from its original iconic appearance into a next generation version as well as the two-seated fight commandeered by Poe Dameron and Finn. He contributed further fine-tuning to the X-wing starfighter design for the film, developing illustrations by[2] concept artist[3] Ryan Church to fit[2] production designer[3] Darren Gilford's vision. De Martini also explored concept ideas for Han Solo's freighter, an unused starship that would have penetrated Starkiller Base's force field, and snowspeeder concepts for an ultimately deleted scene.[2]
