A fathier table was a type of betting console with integrated holoprojectors that allowed beings to view and bet on fathier races broadcast from the Canto Casino and Racetrack on the casino planet Cantonica.

Description

Fathier tables[2] were a type of betting console that allowed beings to both bet on and view remote fathier races. The table's shape resembled the oval shape of a fathier race track with betting terminal positioned around the edge. They featured a central hologram which displayed past race results as well as a close up of ongoing races. During a race, individual holograms synced to the participating fathier's position move around table's center track.[1]

History

By 3 ABY,[3] fathier tables had made their way to cantinas and gambling halls around the galaxy, including on the Mid Rim planet Kijimi, the Outer Rim planets Tatooine, Akiva, Cantonica, the Outer Rim moon Toshara as well as aboard the casino cruiser Morenia. In 3 ABY, fathier tables included live broadcasts of fathier races from the Canto Casino and Racetrack in the city Canto Bight on Cantonica as part of the Canto Cup tournament. These broadcasts included commentary transmitted directly from the racetrack in Canto Bight with one announcer speaking in Galactic Basic and another announcer speaking in Huttese.[1]

Behind the scenes

Fathier tables appeared for the 2024 video game Star Wars Outlaws which was developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft.[1] Prior to the game's release, they were shown in promotional material; first appearing in the game's "Summer Game Fest 2024" teaser trailer which was released on June 8, 2024.[4] The tables were first identified as "fathier tables" in the 2025 reference book The Art of Star Wars: Outlaws The tables were designed for the game by concept artist Adrien Girod[5] and were designed to have a tactile and mechanical design rather than just being screens or holograms.[2]
