FIBUA Operation,[1] or FIBUA ops, an acronym for fighting in built-up areas and inside buildings, was a military term[2] used by the Grand Army of the Republic's leaders and instructors,[1] to designate any military operation involving combat in urban environments.[2] It was essentially a fancy synonym for the term "urban warfare."[1] The first model of Katarn-class commando armor, specialized clone armor designed for the Republic Special Operations Brigade's clone commandos, was designed for FIBUA Operations.[2]
Behind the scenes
The term FIBUA Operation was first mentioned as FIBUA ops in Republic Commando: Hard Contact, a 2004 novel written by Karen Traviss.[2] The term was later fully identified in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, a 2008 reference book written by Stephen J. Sansweet and Pablo Hidalgo.[1]
