Explosive shackles were a type device used to intimidate slaves and prisoners in order to deter escape attempts. Built with small but lethal explosive charges, they were composed of a collar and belt joined by durasteel chains. If the wearer left a specific area or moved more than certain distance from the control unit, these devices were set to explode at the push of a button on a detonator.[1]
