Sometime before the Battle of Coruscant, an expedition was sent to the planet of Malachor at the behest of Darth Sidious, a Dark Lord of the Sith whose public persona was Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine of the Galactic Republic. An artifact known as the Sith Chalice was retrieved on Malachor and brought to Sidious.[1]
Behind the scenes
The expedition that brought back the Sith Chalice was first mentioned in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations.[1] In the Legends version of the book, published in 2005, the Chalice was uncovered on Yavin 4 rather than Malachor, during the Wolhanian expedition.[2]
