Excelsior was an MC80 Star Cruiser used by the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
Excelsior v.s. Blue Fox
During the Galactic Civil War, Imperial reconnaissance patrols located the Excelsior, and the Imperial EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate Blue Fox launched an attack against her with TIE/sa starfighters armed with proton torpedoes and concussion missiles. They also sent Alpha-class Xg-1 Star Wings and three CR90 corvettes to try to destroy the Excelsior. However, Alliance RZ-1 A-wing interceptors managed to hold off the attack long enough for the Excelsior to reach hyperspace. It would send T-65 X-wing starfighters and BTL Y-wing starfighters to attack the Blue Fox.

A mislabeled MC80 Home One type Star Cruiser
Although the Mon Calamari Star Cruisers featured in Star Wars: X-Wing: Collector's CD-ROM are identified in-game as MC80a Star Cruisers, they are visually modeled on the Home One type Star Cruiser[1] seen in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.[2]
