- "This is Evac One. We're here to get you out. Standby for immediate pickup."
- ―A crewmember
Evac One was an Imperial Gozanti-class cruiser originally known as Transport Ship 63378 which was stolen from the Galactic Empire and later used as an evac ship by the Spectres.
Description
- "That's not one of us!"
- ―TK-626, referring to Transport 63378 as it was being stollen by the Specters.
Evac One was an Imperial Gozanti-class cruiser[3] manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation[1] for use in the military of the Galactic Empire.[3] 63.8 meters long, 32 meters wide and 14.7 meters high, the ship was armed with a dorsal twin laser cannon turret and a ventral heavy laser cannon turret. Like all Imperial Gozanti-class ships, it could transport either four TIE/ln space superiority starfighters,[1] four All Terrain Defense Pods or even two All Terrain Armored Transports[5] on underside-mounted docking clamps.[6] Its hull was painted a light gray,[3] in keeping with the Empire's preference for muted colors.[7] After it became a rebel ship under the name of Evac One, its appearance remained mostly unchanged save for an orange starbird painted at the starboard side.[4]
History
- "The transport you stole will get us close to the fleet over Mustafar. We know they have Kanan on Tarkin's Star Destroyer."
"And it's surrounded by a bunch of other Star Destroyers."
"Uh, lots more. We'll need a distraction to cover our entry. Sabine?"
"Engine room's here, all the power for the ship. If we could get inside the docking bay, I could rig something, black 'em out. But our transport ship's not gonna fit in there." - ―Hera Syndulla, Garazeb Orrelios, and Sabine Wren
The ship during the rescue of Kanan Jarrus
The ship was known to the Empire as Transport Ship 63378.[3] In 4 BBY,[8] it was stolen by the Spectres to rescue their leader, Kanan Jarrus, from the Mustafar system. Sabine Wren made a distraction at a Lothal hangar while her fellow rebels absconded with the cruiser. They then added their previously stolen TIE fighter in order to enter the system. They rendezvoused with the Star Destroyer Sovereign for the rescue, leaving their droid C1-10P to pilot it. After rescuing Jarrus, they fled the Star Destroyer, but C1-10P had left with the transport. He then returned leading a rebel fleet, and together they escaped the system.[3]
It was later used by the larger rebellion, seeing action as an evacuation ship under the callsign Evac One, such as the skirmish on Imvur.[4]
Behind the scenes
Transport Ship 63378 first appeared in "Fire Across the Galaxy," the finale of the first season of the animated television series Star Wars Rebels.[3]
It was later confirmed to be the same ship as Evac One by the author Martin Fisher.[9]
