- "The ag-producers of the Abrion have lived for decades with few options and limited control of the goods we provide. Now, though, we've found appreciative markets without the restrictive bureaucracy of the Republic."
- ―Esu Rotsino tending Abrion Major's Articles of Secession
Esu Rotsino was a senator who represented the astronomical object Abrion Major in the Senate of the Galactic Republic. On the date 13:4:18, during the Separatist Crisis, due to ag-producers of the Abrion sector living for decades with minimal options and control of the goods they provided, Rotsino led the entire sector to secede from the Republic to the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[1]
When submitting Articles of Secession to the Senate, Rotsino explained that the Abrion sector's inhabitants felt that the Confederacy were a more appreciative market to their products and that they wished to be freed from the bureaucracy of the Republic. As a result of her actions, the Senate began debating the provision of emergency subsidies to the remaining Republic agricultural sectors, as the Core Worlds region faced the possibility of starvation. Rotsino's statements were later quoted in a 13:4:18 issue of the CoCo District Edition of the HoloNet News that covered the Abrion sector's secession.[1]
Behind the scenes
Esu Rotsino was introduced in HoloNet News Vol. 531 #52, an in-universe issue of the HoloNet News[1] written by Pablo Hidalgo and Paul Ens[2] and published on the HoloNet News website on April 18, 2002.[3] Rotsino's name is an anagram of Sue Rostoni, who at the time served as the executive editor for Lucas Licensing.[4]
