Escape from Death Star was a board game that was released by Kenner in 1977. It was based on the events of A New Hope. It was distributed by Parker Brothers in Canada[6] and Germany, Editrice Giochi in Italy,[4] Toltoys in Australia,[7] Clipper in the Netherlands,[8] Estrela in Brazil,[9] Borras Plana S.A. in Spain,[4] and Takara in Japan.[5]
Gameplay
The players' mission was to move character tokens (Han/Chewbacca and Luke/Leia) to the Control Room and Tractor Beam to get the Death Star Blueprints. After this, players made their way to the Millennium Falcon and jump into hyperspace.
Once there, the goal was to reach the rebel base with the Death Star blueprints. After battling and defeating several TIE/LN starfighters the game is won by the player first to arrive at the base with the plans.
Legacy
In 2019, Hasbro released a reproduction of the original game — now including a new vintage style Grand Moff Tarkin action figure — as part of the Star Wars: Retro Collection toy line.[2]
