Elrik Vonreg's RK-3 blaster firing blaster bolts
A customized red-accented RK-3 blaster was utilized by First Order Major Elrik Vonreg. The pistol was manufactured by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc. and Sonn-Blas Corporation. In 34 ABY, after the First Order hired pirate Kragan Gorr and his Warbird gang to abduct the pilot Torra Doza, Vonreg employed the weapon to betray the pirates aboard their sail barge, the Galleon. The pilot shot the pirates Drell and Skreek during the blaster fight and retrieved Doza from her captors.
Description
Major Elrik Vonreg's Imperial-era RK-3 blaster was customized[2] and featured a red finish to match his crimson armor. The one-handed weapon featured white indicator lights at the back of the pistol to indicate the weapon's power levels. Vonreg's pistol had pinpoint precision and discharged red blaster bolts.[1]
History
- "Good evening, Kragan. Commander Pyre sends his regards."
- ―Elrik Vonreg, to the Warbird Gang
The blaster was manufactured by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc. and Sonn-Blas Corporation and was utilized by the First Order Special Forces pilot Elrik Vonreg.[1] In 34 ABY,[4] the First Order secretly hired the pirate Kragan Gorr and his Warbird gang to abduct the pilot Torra Doza from the Colossus refueling station on the planet Castilon to entice Imanuel Doza—the station's captain and Torra's father—into hiring the First Order to protect the station from raids from the very same pirates. After the Warbirds successfully captured Torra, the pirate leader contacted Commander Pyre of the First Order to inform him of the mission's success. Pyre then arranged for Vonreg to deliver the pirates' payment to their sail barge,[3] the Galleon.[1]

When the major arrived and disembarked from a shuttle, he was welcomed by the pirates Drell, Skreek, and Valik with a captured Doza. Vonreg greeted Gorr before revealing his pistol and opening fire on the Warbirds. The major successfully shot Drell, knocking[3] him[5] unconscious, and Skreek, knocking[3] him[6] into the ocean of Castilon[3]—though both survived the attack.[6] Vonreg then escorted Doza to the shuttle while continuing to fire at Gorr's pirates. After leaving the skirmish, the shuttle returned to the Colossus station, where Vonreg returned Torra to her father.[3]
Behind the scenes
The blaster first appeared in "The Doza Dilemma,"[3] the fourteenth episode of the first season of the Star Wars Resistance animated television series[7] which premiered on January 27, 2019.[8] Prior to the episode's release, the pistol was first pictured in the article "NYCC 2018: Hasbro Joins the Resistance" that was posted on StarWars.com on October 6, 2018. The article featured images of the Hasbro action figure for Elrik Vonreg from the Star Wars Resistance line,[9] which released in December later that year.[10] The blaster included with Vonreg's figure omitted its red-colored accents.[9] Concept art for the pistol was created by Lucasfilm Animation artist Aaron Pham on July 27, 2017.[11] The model for the blaster was used as the source for another RK-3 blaster, titled "blasterFoA."[12]
