Electrostatic baffles were a type of baffle that could be used in starship construction. The TUG-b13 spacetug manufactured by Sublights Products Corporation had an electrostatic baffle in the intake of each of its four large engines in order to keep dust out.[1]

Behind the scenes

Electrostatic baffles first appeared in the 2015 sequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens.[2] They were not identified in the film, but received a name in the reference book Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Incredible Cross-Sections, which was written by Jason Fry and released alongside the film.[1]
