Electromag-pulse disruptors were a type of ion melee weapon and tool that was designed to short-out electronic equipment. Consisting of a slim stylus and costing 180 credits, the disruptor was used as a tool in the daily work of some technicians, who kept it handy in order to deal with computers or droids that they lost control of.[1]
The disruptors could also be used successfully as an improvised weapon in combat situations and could disorientate foes. In the Core Worlds this was rarely necessary, but in the Outer Rim Territories the weapon could mean the difference between life and death for technicians set upon by pirates or marauders.[1]

Electromag-pulse disruptors were first mentioned in the 2016 Star Wars Roleplaying supplement Special Modifications, which was published by Fantasy Flight Games.[1]
