The Elder Council was the ruling body among the Red or Elder Rakata. Prior and during the Old Sith Wars, the members of the council allied with Revan, the Dark Lord of the Sith.[1] The council also had the duty of making sure that the secrets of the Ancients were safe inside the Temple of the Ancients, which kept others like the Rakatan tribe led by The One from finding and keeping the secrets.[1]
