Ekster was a Corellian term used by Ensterites to describe someone who was from a planet outside the Corellian star system. Another term for ekster was non-permes. Taken to an extreme by some Corellians, the term brought with it wide-ranging prejudices and restrictions.[1] For the zealots, this attitude was normal. According to them, outsiders didn’t understand the complexities of permes, so they spoke from ignorance. They were to be pitied more than feared or scorned. But to outsiders, it was called xenophobia, Speciesism, or worse.[2] Temporary alliances with eksters were allowed, with a wink and a nod about sowing-one’s-wild-grains and all, but one could not bring a non-permes lover home to meet one’s kinfolk, not unless there’s willingness give up one’s clan and be permanently ostracized.[2]
