- "Didn't I tell you to wait aboard the ship?
I, uh…I'm sorry, Uupa. I thought something might be wrong.
Is that why you're carrying an eavesdropping saucer?" - ―Luewet Wuul and Suuas, upon Wuul's discover of Suuas' attempt to spy on him on Crossing Lanes Station
An eavesdropping saucer was a type of listening device. In 45 ABY, the Sullustan Suuas used an eavesdropping saucer to spy on his relative Galactic Alliance senator Luewet Wuul on the installation Crossing Lanes Station on behalf of the corporation Galactic Syndicated.
Description
- "Cheap Loronar trash. I told them I wanted SoroSuub."
- ―Suuas, on the eavesdropping saucer given to him by Galactic Syndicated
An eavesdropping saucer was a type of listening device resembling a stethoscope with a large suction cup affixed. The device allowed the operator to listen to conversations that were not otherwise audible. [1]
History
- "…not even SoroSuub! This is Loronar! How could you, Suuas? Loronar?"
- ―Luewet Wuul, on Suuas' use of a Loronar Corporation eavesdropping saucer
During the time of the Galactic Alliance, both the Loronar and SoroSuub conglomerates manufactured eavesdropping saucers. In 45 ABY, the corporation Galactic Syndicated hired the Sullustan Suuas to spy on his relative Galactic Alliance senator Luewet Wuul and provided Suuas an eavesdropping saucer for the assignment. Though Suuas had specifically requested a SoroSuub-manufactured saucer, he was given a Loronar Corporation-produced device, which he considered to be cheaper and poorer quality than a SoroSuub alternative.[1]
Luke Skywalker, a Jedi Grand Master who Suuas spied on using an eavesdropping saucer
During a meeting aboard the ship of the Jedi Grand Master Luke Skywalker, Jade Shadow, docked in a hangar at the[1] D'Astan sector[2] installation Crossing Lanes Station, Wuul discussed his concerns over recent Galactic Syndicated corporate takeovers. In an attempt to listen in, Suuas affixed his eavesdropping saucer to the ship's hull, but was caught and interrogated by Skywalker and Wuul. Wuul further chastised Suuas for using a Loronar-made device instead of one from SoroSuub.[1]
Behind the scenes
The eavesdropping saucer appeared in the 2013 Star Wars Legends novel Crucible, written by Troy Denning.[1]
