The Commandant of the Academy of Carida used e-mails to communicate with cadets. Kyle Katarn received an e-mail stating his father was killed in a Rebel raid.[2]
On board the Star of Empire, Nathan Donar III sent a warning message to Katarn to stay away from Jan Ors, making him realize that his father knew about their Rebel operations.[2]
On board the New Hope, before leaving for the Mission to Danuta, Jan Ors left an e-mail to Katarn, wishing him luck as she had to leave for a new mission and couldn't see him off; Katarn didn't know that Ors's new mission was actually spying on him.[2]
