The Dustig Pocket was an area of space located in a region of the galaxy's southern quadrant that would eventually be classified as part of the Mid Rim. This area emerged with the discovery of Malastare by Galactic Republic scouts in 8000 BBY and the establishment of the Dustig Trace, a short but useful hyperlane that connected Malastare to the Kath and Demos systems. The Dustig Pocket acted as a small enclave of civilization, as it was surrounded by a region that remained largely unexplored for millennia.[1]
