After Malastare was colonized by the Gran of Kinyen, a conflict broke out between the settlers and the native Dugs. Kinyen was forced to spend a massive amount of currency supporting its colony, which allowed the Neimoidians to take over control of the Trade Federation. After their ultimate failure, the Gran granted their colonies independence and embraced isolationism.^[2]
