A duel took place sometime between 18 BBY and 3 BBY,[2] after Imperial forces led by an Inquisitor tracked down a young Force-sensitive girl, Rani, to just outside the Golak Mahal on the desert planet Golak. Jedi Order survivor Rugal revealed herself, combatting the Inquisitor and his Purge Trooper forces, resulting in the death of all three Imperials.[1]

Behind the scenes

The duel appeared in "The Bandits of Golak," a non-canon short film released as part of the second volume of the Star Wars: Visions series. The animated short, produced by 88 Pictures, was released on Disney+[1] on May 4, 2023.[3] Choreography from the duel bares strong resemblance to Lorenz Hideyoshi's 2019 fan film DARK JEDI: A STAR WARS story.[4]

  2. 2.0 2.1 "The Bandits of Golak" takes place during the Great Jedi Purge, which ended with the Mission to Malachor per The Odyssey of Star Wars: An Epic Poem. Star Wars: Timelines dates the mission to 3 BBY, this is when the Jedi Purge ended. The short also features TIE/ln space superiority starfighters, which were introduced in 18 BBY per Timelines. Therefore, "The Bandits of Golak" must take place between 18 BBY and 3 BBY.

I mean they already had a different weapons setup , but still managed to brute force (push) my choreo onto that action ☹️ Didn’t even change the camera angles • Why @disney ? Is it because we made a non-profit tribute fan film of one of your IPs and now you feel justified in stealing from this pool of creative output? Maybe either a) pay your animators more or b) hire an action designer" (backup link)
