- "Cherroi's complaining about falling behind on that competition with Squadron Five!"
- ―A pilot of the 204th
Duchas Cherroi[3] was a human[1] TIE fighter pilot in Squadron Three[3] of the Galactic Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing during the Galactic Civil War between the Empire and the New Republic.[2] Around 5 ABY,[4] while the fighter wing was stationed aboard the Quasar Fire-class cruiser carrier Aerie, Cherroi had a competition with the 204th's Squadron Five, but fell behind. The Imperial pilot's efforts were discussed by another pilot in the Aerie's mess hall, which was briefly overheard by the fighter wing's commanding officer Major Soran Keize as he headed for a meeting. Cherroi shared an intimate relationship with fellow Squadron Three pilot Gargovik, who were often seen together between missions.[2]
Behind the scenes
Duchas Cherroi was first mentioned in the 2020 novel Shadow Fall: An Alphabet Squadron Novel, written by Alexander Freed.[2] The pilot's first name, Duchas, was identified in Shadow Fall's sequel, Freed's 2021 novel Victory's Price: An Alphabet Squadron Novel.[3]

In Shadow Fall, the Dark Secrets of Alphabet Squadron Revealed on StarWars.com (backup link) establishes that Shadow Fall: An Alphabet Squadron Novel takes place approximately half a year after the Battle of Endor, while Before the Awakening states Kes Dameron and Shara Bey moved to Yavin 4 around six months after the Battle of Endor. Given that Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates their move to 5 ABY, the events of Shadow Fall must also take place around that time.
