A droid brain defense system was a type of unusual upgrade that equipped a suit of armor with a droid brain tasked with protecting the wearer. Generally reserved for only powered armored suits, the brain would use a a full sensor suite to alert the wearer to incoming threats and then help them to avoid them. In the most basic models of the upgrade, this would only include warning users of the threat and then marking ideal cover locations through a haptic interface or by voice, but in more advance models, the brain was able to throw the armor and its wearer out of the way of incoming harm using a series of complex motors or repulsorlift generators throughout the suit.[2]
These earnest attempts to protect the user could prove highly inconvenient, especially outside of combat, given that the droid brains often developed highly paranoid personalities. During the Galactic Civil War, a droid brain defense system was hard to find for purchase, costing five thousand credits.[1]

Droid brain defense systems were first mentioned in Fully Operational, a 2018 supplement for the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion roleplaying game published by Fantasy Flight Games.[1]
