- "Well, regardless, the Sith don't let anybody near that valley. Even when we land, they watch us like a Drayberian hawk and want us gone quickly."
- ―A pilot, on the Valley of the Dark Lords
The Drayberian hawk was a type of hawk[1] that hailed from[3] the Drayberia system, a part of the Outer Rim Territories' Sertar sector.[2] It had a close, observant gaze.[1]
In 3956 BBY,[4] Jedi Padawan Revan visited the planet Korriban[1] of the Outer Rim's Esstran sector.[5] There, in The Drunk Side cantina of the Dreshdae settlement,[1] he[6] met a pair of pilots who were transporting artifacts excavated by members of the Sith tradition of Force-users at the ancient Sith tombs of the Valley of the Dark Lords offworld. One of the pilots relayed to Revan that the Sith restricted access to that valley and even viewed the pilots with suspicion, comparing the Sith's observation of them to being watched by a Drayberian hawk.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Drayberian hawk was introduced in the 2003 BioWare video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. In the game, the creature can be mentioned in an optional conversation the player character, Revan, can have with a pair of pilots on the planet Korriban. This article assumes one hundred percent game completion and that the conversation took place as described.[1]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. This article treats the Drayberia system as the location of one such homeworld with regard to the Drayberian hawk species.
