Dobbis was a goddess of rain in the religion of the Gungan species on the planet Naboo. Along with the god of fresh water,[1] Gob Gobba,[3] Dobbis was viewed as an important nature deity and was overseen by the primary deity Oma-Oma.[1] On Naboo, a statue of Dobbis, which shared the god's name, was located on a stone cliff alongside a stream that overlooked a waterfall. Sometime before the Invasion of Naboo[2] in 32 BBY,[1] the Chiss pirate Captain Swagg sent two droids to steal the statue of Dobbis among others, but the droids were stopped by the Gungan Jar Jar Binks.[2]
Behind the scenes
The statue of Dobbis appeared in the 2000 novel Pirates from Beyond the Sea, written by Ryder Windham as the eleventh installment of Star Wars: Episode I Adventures series.[2] Dobbis was later specified to be a Gungan goddess in the French version of the 2001 LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds.[1]
