- «He travels aboard a Garwian diplomatic ship, in the company of a Garwian envoy, to a world we ourselves have no political ties to; and that has nothing to do with politics? Have the Garwians converted their diplomatic corps into a knitting club?»
- ―Zistalmu, to Ar'alani
The diplomatic corps was the diplomatic service of the Garwian Unity, a nation in the Unknown Regions, of which the Garwian envoy Proslis was a member.[1] In 19 BBY,[2] the Chiss Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, core name "Thrawn," undertook an unsanctioned mission to the Vak Combine nation planet of Primea, during which he traveled to the world aboard Proslis' diplomatic ship. When word of the senior captain's mission arrived at the Chiss Ascendancy, his superior, Admiral Ar'alani, attempted to defend his actions by stating that he had not inserted himself into Garwian politics. However, Irizi family Syndic Irizi'stal'mustro, core name "Zistalmu," retorted that Thrawn traveled aboard a Garwian diplomatic ship in the company of a Garwian envoy and sarcastically asked if the Garwians had transformed their diplomatic corps into a knitting club.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Garwian diplomatic corps appeared in the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, the first installment of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]
