- "It looks like there's a planet called Deneter up ahead. It was abandoned after the Clone Wars — it was so decimated by battles that the population emigrated to the Core. It has twenty orbiting uninhabited satellites."
- ―Obi-Wan Kenobi, to Ferus Olin
Deneter was a planet[2] located in Wild Space[1] that was orbited by twenty uninhabited satellites.[2] It was located in a nebula near the Red Twins.[3]
History
Deneter was the site of devastating battles during the Clone Wars which rendered the planet virtually uninhabitable.[3] Due to the extensive damages caused by the war, the population left everything behind and emigrated to the Core Worlds,[2] especially Coruscant.[3]
A few months after the fall of the Jedi Order, Ferus Olin, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Trever Flume were on the run from the bounty hunter Boba Fett, who was working for Inquisitor Malorum at the time. The trio outmaneuvered Fett and tricked him into crash-landing his ship, the Slave I, on one of the satellites of Deneter.[2]
Behind the scenes
The planet Deneter first appeared in the novel The Last of the Jedi: Dark Warning. Although the novel placed the planet in the Red Twins' star system,[2] the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, written by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace created a separate Deneter system.[4] This discrepancy was later fixed as the Deneter system was removed from The Essential Atlas Online Companion. Jason Fry later confirmed this revision and the localization of Deneter in the Red Twins system.[5]
