The holding room of the second Death Star was a waiting area that was connected to Emperor Palpatine's throne room by an elevator. The officers, dignitaries, and Imperial Ruling Council members waiting for an audience with Palpatine had to remain in that room until their master was willing to see them. At one point, even Darth Vader, the Emperor's right hand, was forced to wait in the holding room, much to his frustration.[2]
Behind the scenes
Jerjerrod and two Royal Guards barring entrance to the Emperor's throne room
Initially, the holding room of the Emperor's throne room was featured in a brief scene in the 1983 movie Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. In said scene, Moff Jerjerrod and two Royal Guards bar entrance to the turbolift as Darth Vader attempts to enter it. Although the scene was ultimately left on the cutting room's floor,[3] it was included in the Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-ray set.[4]
