For other uses, see fire and crab.

The Darellian fire crab was a species of crustacean[1] hailing from the Darellia system[2] in the Core Worlds.[3] In 22 BBY,[4] the Gungan Associate Planetary Representative Jar Jar Binks blushed like a Darellian fire crab when the Human Padmé Amidala asked him to assume her senatorial duties during her upcoming absence. Binks bowed as if to cover up his blushing.[1]

Behind the scenes

Darellian fire crabs were mentioned in R. A. Salvatore's novelization of the prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones.[1] The novel was published on April 23, 2002,[5] prior to the film's premiere on May 16 of the same year.[6]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. This article treats the Darellia system as the location of one such homeworld with regard to the Darellian fire crab species.
