Danton VI was a transitional planet under the control of the Galactic Empire, and a leading weapons manufacturer for the Imperial cause. Weapons were shipped off-planet daily from its numerous manufacturing plants. Like any weapons manufacturing planet, it had a large complement of stormtroopers to guard the assembly facilities.
Despite the large Imperial presence on the planet, there was also a Rebel base. Originally it was a smuggler's base, stealing weapons from the Imperials and selling them on the black market, but it was later converted for use by the Rebel Alliance. The Rebels also had the support of some of the locals who opposed Imperial rule and assisted the Rebels in any way they could.
Orbiting the planet was the Lunar Station, a political outpost for Imperial high-ups.
