The lighting of lanterns was a ceremony on the Mid Rim Territories planet of Kijimi that evolved from an act of basic survival. It was practiced by the Dai Bendu monks during the cold nights, and was held to express gratitude. The ceremony was forgotten by the time monks disappeared, though the city dwellers were grateful for the lanterns.[1]
