D-LZ8 was a protocol droid used by the Hutt Cartel during the Conquest of Makeb. After Doctor Juvard Illip Oggurobb was successfully rescued from Toborro, several other Hutts abandoned Toborro and pleaded the Republic to take them on the Ark to escape Makeb's imminent destruction. D-LZ8 assisted in negotiations between the Hutts and Shalim Avesta by providing translation services.[1]
