Cryogenic power cells were designed as power sources for construction droids in the wake of the Jedi Civil War. Lasavvou, an Ithorian, was delivering a large shipment of these to an unknown party on the planet Nar Shaddaa in 3951 BBY. When his contact did not show up, he did not have enough credits to pay the dock authority's fees for departing the moon and he became stranded there. He gave one of these to Meetra Surik after she helped negotiate his free passage off the moon.
Cryogenic powers cells, such as Thiodyne's O3-R cryogenic power cells, were used as starfighter components.[2]
