The Crispin asteroid field was an asteroid belt located in the Crispin system in Wild Space of the galaxy. It contained methane-covered asteroids that were used as hiding places for pirates and smugglers. The asteroid field and smugglers also both served as target practice for Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders prior to the outbreak of the Mandalorian Wars.
Canderous Ordo and his soldiers once accidentally freed what may have been a Yuuzhan Vong Yorik-stronha that had been frozen into one of the asteroids.
Behind the scenes
There is some debate as to what exactly was the object that the Mandalorians encountered in the asteroid field. While the description matches that of a Yuuzhan Vong coralcraft, some fans argue that it could not have been possible for a Vong ship to have made it to the galaxy four millennia ahead of the first scouting fleets, despite the presence of slivilith probes in the galaxy at that time.
"Crispin" was a character name written down in 1973 by the Star Wars franchise's creator, George Lucas, during the early writing stages of[1] the first part of the original trilogy, the 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.[2]
