Crax eels were a type of eel. At one point, the crime lord Sabi Sabo Acidy fed his brother to a pack of feral crax eels for a bottle of squig. Eventually the incident became known to the rogue archaeologist Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra and New Republic[1] Director Meteora Gray.[2]
No earlier than 5 ABY,[3] after being informed Acidy was to return a precious totem to the Campi Tribe in exchange for remaining in the New Republic's good graces, Aphra—who worked for the Republic—asked if it was referring to the same Acidy who had fed his brother to the crax eels. In response, Gray confirmed it was.[1]

Crax eels were mentioned in the third issue of the 2025 comic series Star Wars: Doctor Aphra – Chaos Agent. The issue was written by Cherish Chen and published by Marvel Comics[2] on August 27, 2025.[4]
