Coruscul was a world situated in the Core Worlds. It was the site of a hidden stronghold at one point used by the Order of the Silver Jedi sect of the Jedi Order. After he was liberated from a dead-in-space starship at some point during the New Republic's existence, the dark side of the Force–affiliated being known as the Force vampire began travelling to Coruscul in order to destroy the stronghold there.
Description
Coruscul was a world[2] located in the Coruscul system, which was a part of the Arrowhead, or the Slice portion of the Core Worlds.[1]
History
Coruscul was the site of a stronghold of the Order of the Silver Jedi, a sect of the Jedi Order (emblem depicted).
During the reign of the Galactic Republic, Coruscul was the site of a stronghold of the Order of the Silver Jedi, a sect of the Jedi Order.[2] At some point between 86 BBY and 24 BBY,[3] an unsuccessful experiment by the former Order resulted in the transformation of the Jedi Knight Tel Angor into the dark side of the Force–affiliated being known as the Force vampire. Although the Force vampire proceeded to destroy any records he could find concerning his creation, he never visited the Coruscul stronghold—the last location where such data was stored—before he became trapped aboard an Outrider-class cruiser that remained dead in space until after the New Republic was established[2] in 4 ABY.[3] After a New Republic picket ship unwillingly liberated the Force vampire, he began travelling to Coruscul aboard the passenger starliner Dantooine's Pride with the goal of destroying the stronghold that both served as a last reminder of the Order of the Silver Jedi and contained evidence of the vampire's existence.[2]
Locations
Coruscul was the site of a hidden stronghold that at one point was used by the Order of the Silver Jedi. Records documenting the creation and abilities of the Force vampire were entered into computer logs at the Coruscul stronghold, and a data journal similarly describing the entity's genesis was also kept there.[2]
Behind the scenes
Coruscul was mentioned in "Dangers from the Dark Side: Villains for the Star Wars: New Republic Campaign, Part Two," a roleplaying game source article authored by Bill Slavicsek and Michele Carter for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game and published in the 104th issue of the Polyhedron magazine in February 1995. Since that article was released outside of the Lucas Licensing process,[2] it was considered non-canonical with respect to the Star Wars Legends continuity.[4] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Coruscul system, and therefore Coruscul itself, in grid square L-10.[1]

"Dangers from the Dark Side: Villains for the Star Wars: New Republic Campaign, Part Two" — Polyhedron 104 establishes that Tel Angor, who was ninety years old by the time of the New Republic's existence, was transformed into the Force vampire no later than several years before the Clone Wars. The New Essential Chronology dates the beginning of the Clone Wars to 22 BBY and the establishment of the New Republic to 4 ABY, therefore placing Angor's transformation sometime between 86 BBY and 24 BBY.
