The Coruscant Merchants' Guild was a merchant group active by 11,987 BBY that shared its name with the galactic capital, the Core Worlds planet Coruscant. The Coruscant-born man Contispex I, who became Galactic Republic Supreme Chancellor in 11,987 BBY, first rose to prominence as a member of the Coruscant Merchants' Guild. There, he achieved fame for his opposition to corruption and those who did not share his moral standards, as well as his devotion to the Pius Dea religion which had originated on Coruscant in the centuries before 11,987 BBY.[1]
