A cortosis shot was a slugthrower projectile that was made out of the metal cortosis and used by Cad Bane in 21 BBY. This bullet, upon striking a lightsaber blade, would cause the blade to short out, giving the shooter an advantage over the lightsaber wielder. However, Bane stated that the bullets were expensive and hard on the slugthrower's barrel.
