Conversion modules were patchwork systems used to redirect power from a starship's reactor to various sub-systems. They were prone to exploding if too much power was routed through them. Han Solo worked up some conversion modules when he needed to redirect power to the de-icing system in order to scorch some stone mites off the Millennium Falcon's hull.[1]
