- "Rackfever is epidemic on the planet. Anyone who visits runs a high risk of infection. There is no known cure for the disease. Any volunteers?"
"I'll go, Admiral." - ―An Admiral and Luke Skywalker
Control Disease was a Control-based Force power which allowed a Force user to direct their own body's antibodies to combat a disease. In the case of a long-standing or particularly virulent disease, the Force user would sometimes take weeks or months of intensive control to throw it off. Ailments like the cold or flu could be cured relatively quickly, while more serious diseases such as gangrene, tuberculosis and lung cancer took longer to treat.[1] If successful, the individual could also prevent themselves from being infectious, even if the disease was not completely cured.[2] The power could also be extended to affect other individuals; the process was made easier by the relationship between the two individuals, and the proximity between them.[1]
Sometime during the Galactic Civil War, a rackfever epidemic hit a planet. Luke Skywalker volunteered to visit the planet despite there being no known cure for the disease, knowing that he would be able to use the Force power to prevent himself from succumbing to the illness.[1]
