Combat engineers were rebel troopers of the Alliance to Restore the Republic that specialized in engineering operations. They were typically in the center of a squad and worked in conjunction with Special-weapons flamethrowers to take down fortifications.[1] Sergeant Kala Tanto served as a combat engineer. Sappers were combat engineers that specialized in constructing bases for Alliance as well as in destroying those same structures belonging to the Galactic Empire.[2]
