A code-crystal was a component used in fractal radios[1] which allowed for highly-encrypted communications.[2] Code-crystals could be made to only fit specific transmitters.[1]

In 3 BBY, Cassian Andor gave the Ghorman Front a new code-crystal that was made one-of-a-kind to only fit their radio which would allow the group to stay in communications with Luthen Rael's rebel network.[1]

Behind the scenes

A code-crytal appeared in "I Have Friends Everywhere", the fifth episode of the second season of the Disney+ television series Star Wars: Andor, which was released[1] on April 29, 2025.[3]
