Class IV planet was a classification of planet that required quarantine after contact by the standards of the Galactic Empire in order to check for infection by unforeseen pathogens. The fertile planet Uokara in the Unknown Regions was considered a class IV planet and[1] the Sith Lord[2] Darth Vader was required to go into quarantine after surveying the world, revealing that he had been infected by Ghymnon, an unrecognized pathogen that covered the entirety of Uokara.[1]

The term class IV planet was used in "The Inhabitant," a story written by Steve Orlando, illustrated by Paul Davidson, and published in the comic book Darth Vader – Black, White & Red 4[1] on July 26, 2023.[3]
