Class 4 was a literature rating within the Galactic Empire that could be assigned to books that contained objectionable content. The Commission for the Preservation of the New Order agent Paramiah Shrove classified the book that would become known as the Smuggler's Guide as a Class 4, as it contained notes and journal entries from a variety of criminals.[1]
Shrove confiscated the book and the spacer's strongbox it was contained within, but the box was ultimately returned to its owner on orders from Chief Imperial Inspector Lieutenant Hedge Devlin, who was interested in the confiscation of spice rather than questionable literature.[1]
Behind the scenes
Class 4 was first mentioned on a supplemental item included in the deluxe edition of the 2018 reference book Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide, which was written by Daniel Wallace.[1]
