- "It's a very old game. Shah-tezh, in this iteration, though over the eons I have seen it spawn many variants. Dejarik. Moebius. Chess. In most of the iterations the core mechanism remains."
- ―Darth Sidious, to Gallius Rax
Chess was a variation of Shah-tezh, a strategy board game that was created eons before[1] 20 BBY.[2] Due to its origins, chess shared core mechanisms with other Shah-tezh variants such as dejarik and moebius. The Sith Lord Darth Sidious mentioned chess during a conversation with one of his servants, Gallius Rax.[1]
