Chalice and Altar was the best-known work of the opera composer Igern. It dealt with the morality of self-sacrifice and the repression of desire. Study of that opera was included in the Core Worlds Classical Culture class of the Royal Imperial Academy on Coruscant. At one point, cadet Ciena Ree resolved to listen to opera every night leading up to the Culture exam.[1]
