- "The Emperor, the governors, the minds weve brought together have grand plans for the galaxy—not just for the next year, or the next five years, but for the next century. We are the architects of the universe our grandchildren will live in, and it will be one where there is no conflict, no dissent, and no visionaries who would undo the work of their betters. Today we will maintain order through military might, but in the future every child will learn a superior history, be raised in a superior family. And the concept of defiance will be as antiquated as the spear."
- ―Mas Amedda
The century plan was Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine's long-term grand design for the galaxy.[1] In 19 BBY,[2] when Senator Mon Mothma's Imperial Rebirth Act passed in the Imperial Senate with the goal of limiting Palpatine's executive power, Grand Vizier Mas Amedda informed Mothma that the sections of her bill that attempted curb the Emperor were vetoed as they interfered with the century plan.[1]
Behind the scenes
The century plan appeared in the 2025 novel Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear, written by Alexander Freed as the first installment of the Star Wars: Reign of the Empire trilogy.[1]

Star Wars: Edge of the Abyss on Penguin Books' official United Kingdom website (backup link) establishes the events of Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear take place thirteen years before the events of Reign of the Empire: Edge of the Abyss.
Rebecca Roanhorse (@rebeccaroanhorse) on Instagram (post): "Title and updated release date of my upcoming STAR WARS novel announced at SDCC. THE EDGE OF THE ABYSS takes place a year before Andor S1." (backup link) states that Edge of the Abyss takes place a year before the events of Andor Season 1, which are set in 5 BBY per the reasoning here. Therefore, the events of Edge of the Abyss must be set in 6 BBY, and the events of The Mask of Fear in 19 BBY.
